Alessio Lisci: “The team made a big effort, but we’re still not winning away from home, and that has to change”

Osasuna head coach Alessio Lisci spoke to the media after his team’s defeat against Atlético Madrid. “The team made a big effort, and the feeling is different from the one we had in Seville, but we’re still not winning away from home, and that obviously has to change. You can’t live off good feelings,” he said.

Regarding the match, Lisci explained: “They started better than we did and could have gone ahead on the scoreboard. But after the goal that was disallowed — which came right at the start — we grew into the game, made adjustments, and improved as it went on.”

“In the second half, everything we talked about at halftime came through. We were very comfortable. [Forward] Julián Alvarez had a chance that [goalkeeper] Sergio [Herrera] saved, but we were growing, we were better. When we changed systems — because [midfielder Marcos] Llorente was pushing us hard down that flank — we managed to stop him. Then we had a chance with [forwards] Víctor Muñoz and [Ante] Budi[mir] to go ahead, but they scored right after that. Later, Budi had another great opportunity — if I had to choose one player for that ball to fall to, it’d be him — and he missed. But we have to keep creating chances like we did against Espanyol, because they’ll go in,” he added.
